Internal storage repair

Document image

If you can't update your Flipper Zero with the qFlipper application or Flipper Mobile App, full or broken internal storage might be the cause. To resolve this issue, we recommend resetting Flipper Zero to the factory settings.

Flipper Zero stores data on an inserted microSD card and internal storage. The internal storage has a small capacity and is used for storing the dolphin's level, settings, and information about paired devices. It is also used to store saved remotes and cards if a microSD card is not inserted. When you insert a microSD card, saved remotes and cards are moved from the internal storage to the microSD card.

On this page, you will learn how to reset Flipper Zero to the factory settings, restore in recovery mode, and restore from a backup.

Factory reset

You can reset Flipper Zero to the factory settings with the device itself or the qFlipper application.

Reset with Flipper Zero

  1. Go to Settings → Storage.
  2. Select Factory Reset.
  3. Press Erase five times.

4. Click ERASE to start the reset process.

5. When the reset is finished, click CONTINUE.

If you still can't update your Flipper Zero after factory reset, try to restore it in recovery mode.

Firmware recovery mode

In this mode, you can restore Flipper Zero by following the steps described on the Firmware recovery page.

Save internal storage data

To save internal storage data, you can back up your Flipper Zero before repairing the internal storage. A backup is a copy of data stored in the internal storage. Data on the microSD card will not be backed up.

Back up your Flipper Zero

  1. On your computer, open the qFlipper application.
  2. Connect your Flipper Zero to the computer with a USB cable.
  3. Open Advanced controls and click BACKUP.

4. Select the folder where Flipper Zero backup will be saved and click Save.

5. Click BACKUP to save Flipper Zero's internal storage data.

Once you created the backup of the internal storage, you can reset your Flipper Zero to the factory settings or restore in recovery mode. After that, restore internal storage data from the backup.

Restore data from the backup

Once you made factory reset or restored the device in recovery mode, you can restore your Flipper Zero's data by following these steps:

  1. On your computer, open the qFlipper application.
  2. Connect your Flipper Zero to the computer with a USB cable.
  3. Open Advanced controls and click RESTORE.
